The Montgomery Democratic Organization is pleased to announce the candidacies of Catherine Gural and Marvin Schuldiner for Montgomery Township Committee, who were screened and selected by a committee of the Montgomery Democratic Organization from a pool of energized and inspired potential candidates.
Catherine Gural has lived in Montgomery since 2010 and will bring over 17 years of experience in finance, technology, and non-profit management to the Township Committee. In addition, Catherine works as a Multiple Sclerosis advocate, because she has been successfully living with MS since 2001.
Catherine is currently completing her undergraduate degree in English/Film Studies at Rutgers University. She works full time as a Strategic Business Support Manager for Bank of America/Merrill Lynch, where she is responsible for a portfolio of large-scale projects for the banking and brokerage business. She is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt, making her an expert in streamlining processes and maximizing resources.
Catherine also serves as the co-chair of the Disability Advocacy Network in NJ for the Bank, where she won the Global Diversity and Inclusion Award in 2014. She was nominated for the Global Volunteer Award the same year. Additionally, she is a member of the Parents and Caregivers Network as well as Women in Tech and Ops.
Catherine is a member of the Emerge NJ 2018 class, which readies women candidates for political office. She is also a member of the Women’s Political Caucus of NJ.
Catherine is married to Todd, an 8th grade social studies teacher, and is proud mom to Simon (18), Sadie (5), and Stella (2).
If elected to the Township Committee, Catherine plans to apply her professional background in process improvement and efficiency to her work in public service. She will leverage her knowledge of strategy and execution to provide a more open and transparent local government where everyone feels their voices are heard.
Marvin Schuldiner is an Accredited Professional Mediator specializing in commercial, divorce, and elder mediation. He has served as President of the Franklin Township (Somerset) Library Board, and as Vice President, Treasurer, and Trustee for two homeowners’ associations. He is a Past President of the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators (“NJAPM” — the largest mediation group in the state), and currently serves as NJAPM’s Director of Civil Mediation Training.
In addition to his accreditation, Marvin is a qualified mediator for the New Jersey Superior Court, a public sector grievance mediator, and an arbitrator. He holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Michigan State University, a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Rutgers University, and a Certificate in Conflict and Dispute Resolution from New York University. Prior to entering the mediation profession, Marvin worked for Toyota Logistics Services and for Tibbett & Britten Group Americas improving the efficiency of in-house and client operations.
Marvin is married to Francine, who works for the New Jersey Education Association, and is proud father to Eli (7).
Marvin is running for Montgomery Township Committee because he believes the town needs new leadership who will promote efficiency and prudence in government, wisdom and transparency in decision making, and growth that matches the character of Montgomery and keeps our town affordable for all who live here. His experience as a mediator means that he will bring a diplomatic, compromise- and teamwork-focused approach to the Township Committee.
Catherine and Marvin are a strong team who believe that the Montgomery Township Committee should be transparent, accessible, and highly engaged with community members. They look forward to meeting residents at upcoming events and to answering questions and listening to input from all residents of our town.
