American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Montgomery

On Friday, May 29th the American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Montgomery will take place on the track behind Montgomery High School from 6:00 - 11:00 pm.

As this year's captain of the Montgomery Township Democratic Organization Team, I hope you will support our effort on behalf of the American Cancer Society's work to fight cancer, to honor survivors and to pay tribute to the lives lost to the disease.

The team will spend the evening walking the high school track. Each team keeps one member on the track at all times. There will be ongoing fun-filled events enlivening the atmosphere. Food and beverages will be provided at the team table.

Conversation and good cheer are essential parts of the evening! You can support our team by walking with us at the track and/or by making an online donation to the American Cancer Society by clicking the link below.

The Montgomery Democratic Organization’s
Candidates for Township Committee

Michael Fedun

Michael Fedun, a lifelong Montgomery resident whose family has lived and worked here for generations, is a partner with the local law firm of Singer and Fedun.  His law office is in the Village of Harlingen near the corner businesses that have been in the
Fedun family since the 1930’s. Mike worked for his father as a mechanic at Harlingen Garage before pursuing a legal career. He is a graduate of Montgomery public schools, earned his bachelor’s degree at St. Bonaventure, graduated cum laude from Vermont Law School, and began practicing law in 1990.
Michael coaches youth sports, advises Montgomery’s firefighters and emergency medical services, and has served on the Board of Education’s ad hoc Facilities Committee, the  NPDC Concept Planning Team and the Skillman Village Steering Committee.  His wife, Jeanne, is a guidance counselor in the Montgomery schools and their three children attend our schools.
Michael is eager to represent the taxpayers of the Township as we tackle the fiscal issues we all face, and he looks forward to voicing the concerns and interests of the people of Montgomery

.

 Keith Hovey

Keith Hovey and his wife, Rebecca, bought their first home in Montgomery several years ago, and this past January started a family with the birth of their first child, Amelia.  Keith is an attorney with the law firm of Wilentz, Goldman & Spitzer.
He graduated cum laude from Seton Hall Law School. Keith has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University and was an intensive care nurse in Boston, MA.
Keith has served on the Montgomery Board of Health.  He volunteers annually for the Earth Day Fair and is an active member of his church.  Keith also is a member of the Van Harlingen Historical Society and Montgomery Friends of Open Space.
Keith believes that the role of the Township Committee is to engage residents in identifying local issues and solving local problems.  He believes that an engaged and transparent government fosters better ideas and thus a stronger community.

Who We Are

The Montgomery Township Democratic Organization supports candidates, community organizations and initiatives that promote civic engagement and good government. We work to protect the natural resources, traditions and future of Montgomery. We take pride in the service and accomplishments of Democratic leaders who confront the biggest issues facing Montgomery, while ensuring quality service every day to all residents.

The Democratic Party in Montgomery stands for good government through openness and responsiveness, strong fiscal stewardship, and a spirit of bipartisan cooperation.  We are focused on:

·        Preventing or limiting increases in property taxes

·        Protecting our open space, environment and natural resources

·        Improving parks and recreation

·        Continuous improvement in public safety and other municipal services

·        Solving traffic problems and planning a bright future for the Township

Our organization is open to anyone who shares these goals and is willing to work cooperatively toward them.

The Montgomery Democratic Organization is the legal entity representing Democrats in Montgomery and Somerset County. Representatives to the County Organization are elected in the Democratic primary every two years (in even-numbered years).  Two representatives -- a male and a female -- are chosen from each of the Township's 16 voting districts. The 32 elected representatives to the Somerset County Democratic Organization then make up the local Montgomery Democratic Organization as well, along with local elected officials and other interested members of the community.

Official duties of the Democratic Organization include recruitment and support of candidates for municipal (Montgomery Township) elections, and votes at annual county meetings of the Somerset County Democratic Organization. The Democratic Organization works on the election campaigns of local Democratic candidates, and with the county, state, and national Democratic party organizations on county, state and national elections. The Montgomery Democratic Organization meets monthly and meetings are open to any interested Democrat in Montgomery.
